About Us

What is hadassah Home?

Hadassah Home was established in 2019 as a long term, faith based, non-profit homeless shelter for women and children. Through Freedom Tabernacle Ministries and community volunteers, we provide long term safe shelter for women and children who are in crisis.

Hadassah Home's goal is to provide women and their children with a safe, abuse-free environment while meeting their basic needs for food, shelter and clothing.  A long-term approach is essential to accomplish lasting change and restoration. We believe a long-term approach is necessary to address the obstacles faced by the women and children who come to us seeking assistance.

To facilitate this we evaluate and track each individual situation to determine length of residency. Upon arriving at the Home, women meet with an advocate(s) to assess and develop a goal plan. Our average stay is six months to a year.

Our first priority is to help each woman and child that enter our home with the basic needs of food and shelter.  Once basic needs have been met, we can begin to provide services needed to overcome the traumas endured by the resident(s).

Transformation & Renewal for HEaling

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.   - Romans 12:2

Weekly Bible Study

Bible Study occurs once a week focusing on transforming and renewing our minds to focus on our spiritual well being that feeds directly into our physical well being.  We can overcome many trials we face by transforming our views from the world to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Community service

Clothed in Grace on Main Street in Marion provides volunteer opportunities for the women at Hadassah Home as well as volunteering to help in various roles at Freedom Tabernacle Church.

Trauma Informed Approach

We provide a faith-based and trauma informed approach at our homeless shelter for our women and children
in crisis.   As part of the trauma informed response approach, each resident is offered services through our local community services board, licensed counseling centers, recovery court and substance abuse centers. Spiritual care and guidance is provided through our Pastor, local churches and ministers, christian volunteers,
faith-based support groups and the continued prayers of many caring and loving souls within our community.

our home

Our doors are open to any woman or child in crisis.  We are not restricted to any certain area or location. Hadassah Home can comfortably house up to 10 women and 10 children. We currently house 9 women and 7 children. We have two house managers who live at the facility 24/7 and oversee the everyday management of
the home.

Our Vision
Every woman and child experiencing homelessness will have the opportunity to heal, learn, and grow in order to build a foundation for a brighter future and blossom into who they are truly meant to be.
Our Mission
Our residents come to Hadassah Home from a variety of circumstances: some have children or are pregnant,
while others are in need of security, hope, and encouragement to overcome the traumas of sexual, emotional,
physical, or substance abuse. Whatever the crisis, through our Lord Jesus Christ, our mission is to improve the
lives of women and children experiencing homelessness by providing sanctuary, support, education, tools, and
resources to restore hope and break the cycle of abuse so they can achieve God's full potential for their lives
and in so doing so, enrich their own community.

Testimonies

Since the opening of Hadassah Home, 61 women and 17 children have been given refuge, support, and hope in a home environment.
Of the 61 women who have lived at Hadassah Home, 42 have successfully moved into their own homes, or an assisted living facility or have reunited with family.  Four of these women now volunteer as peer support at Hadassah Home on a regular basis.
